Gardens from nine countries were selected following a competitive global competition. Among them, the University of Vienna Botanical Garden is the only European institution. "For the Botanical Garden and the University of Vienna, this is a great international recognition for the uniqueness of the collections and for the successful efforts to preserve species of special importance for research and species conservation," Michael Kiehn, Head of the Core Facility Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna, is pleased to say.
