Research, development and innovation are needed to meet the grand challenges of our time. To address the growing societal and economic challenges, there is an increasing demand for universities to use their knowledge from research and teaching to fulfill their so called "Third Mission" in society and economy.

This implies taking responsibility, actively and consciously, for the society on whose behalf they are working at the Faculty of Life Sciences, both basic and applied research are fostered and promoted , and act as engines for future innovation. At the same time, activities at the Faculty of Life Sciences are geared towards addressing the societal impact of research conducted at the faculty.

Knowledge Transfer

At the Faculty of Life Sciences, a broad range of activities transfer knowledge to target groups outside the university sector (e.g. practitioners, politicians, scholars).

Social and Societal Transfer

The Faculty of Life Sciences transfers scientific knowledge to solve societal challenges, including our response to emerging diseases and the climate emergency.

Technology Transfer

Technology transfer involves the transfer of an idea, technology, know-how, patents and innovations from the Faculty of Life Sciences to commercial contexts.
