Tetsuo Kon wins "Overseas Research Support" from the Yamada Science Foundation

Tetsuo Kon, a postdoctoral researcher in the Simakov group has been awarded an "Overseas Research Support" from the Yamada Science Foundation. The project title is "Impact of transposable elements on stem cell genome dynamics of Hydra".

The purpose of the Yamada Science Foundation is to support and promote basic research in the natural sciences. They promote overseas joint research and international cooperative research by subsidizing (Japanese) expenses related to overseas stays etc. Emphasis is placed on basic research in the natural sciences, including interdisciplinary research that has the potential to revolutionize established academic systems and open up new fields of study from new perspectives, and research that seeks to take on new challenges in different fields.
