The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Award, issued by the Forum Environmental Education and the Ministry of Climate Protection, honors outstanding initiatives in the field of sustainability education. The award ceremony took place on November 11th at the Urania in Vienna. Out of 110 projects submitted all across Austria, AECC Biology's project "Climate Education for Future" was awarded first place in the category "Cooperate". The team of the Austrian competence center is honored to receive such a prestigious award and would like to thank the organizers for the award ceremony and an interesting insight into the other submitted projects.
As part of the UNESCO program "Framework for Action Education 2030", the award event of Forum Umweltbildung in Umweltdachverband celebrates educational projects in different fields of Education for Sustainable Development. This year, new project categories were instated to honor exceptional ideas, characterized by a high level of cooperation, which are able to mobilize people to engage with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals or contribute to the comprehensive transformation of our society.
The minister of Climate Protection Leonore Gewessler addressed the participants of the event with a video message, directly from the climate conference in Glasgow, and emphasized the importance of education for sustainable development.
