Microscopy by electron beam

28.07.2017

Transmission electron microscopy has been used for biological research for decades and is an irreplaceable tool when it comes to questions of cell and organell morphology.

Practically any kind of tissue and cell samples - from viruses to bacteria to plant and animal material - can be processed with the appropriate preparation protocols. These preparations can be based on chemical fixation and processing at ambient temperatures, or on the immediate immobilization of the life processes by rapid freezing, followed by rapid dehydration and fixation at cryogenic temperatures.
