Interdisciplinary Symposium on “Editing genomes with CRISPR"

09.10.2017

The Symposium "Editing genomes with CRISPR. Between scientific breakthroughs and societal challenges”, is taking place on October 19-20th, 2017.

Location: Billrothhaus, Frankgasse 8, 1090 Vienna

Targeted modifications in the genomes of organisms from all domains of life - humans, animals, microorganisms, plants - have become much more accurate, simple, fast and thus also cheaper thanks to the novel CRISPR/Cas genome editing technology. But which of these possible modifications are socially desirable? Who can and should decide about it - and how? These are just a few of the questions discussed at this interdisciplinary and international symposium, which aims to host an open dialogue towards common desirable futures and explore the means and instruments that help to achieve them. Participation is free. However, please register by email. The conference language is English. More details about the event and the program can be found here.
